Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms", "Terms and Conditions") carefully before using the https://linguar.com website and the Linguar mobile applications (together, the "Service") operated by Linguar ("us", "we", or "our").
Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the Terms, then you may not access the Service.
Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to create or use a Linguar account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the date of birth you provide is accurate.
We may suspend any account that we reasonably believe belongs to a user under 18. If you registered before this requirement was introduced and are under 18, your account will be suspended until you reach the minimum age. You may contact us to request a copy of your data in the meantime.
Accounts
When you create an account with us, you must provide information that is accurate, complete, and current at all times — including your year of birth. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account on our Service.
You are responsible for safeguarding the password that you use to access the Service and for any activities or actions under your password. You agree not to disclose your password to any third party. You must notify us immediately upon becoming aware of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account.
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings, or by contacting us.
Your Content
The Service lets you publish content — profile information, posts, voice recordings, photos, forum questions and answers, and private messages ("Your Content"). You retain ownership of Your Content. By posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute Your Content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.
You are responsible for Your Content. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share. We may remove any content that violates these Terms or that we consider harmful to the community, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.
Community Rules
Linguar exists so people can practice languages together. To keep it safe and welcoming, you agree that you will not:
- harass, threaten, insult, or deliberately demean other users;
- send sexual content or romantic/sexual advances to users who have not welcomed them — Linguar is not a dating service;
- engage in any sexual or romantic communication with anyone you know or suspect to be under 18, or solicit personal information, images, or meetings from them — report such accounts to us instead;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or age;
- use the Service to send spam, advertising, or solicitations, or to promote other services;
- attempt to scam, defraud, or extort other users, or request money from them;
- post content that is illegal, hateful, or that sexualizes minors in any form (this results in immediate termination and, where required, a report to the relevant authorities);
- collect or harvest other users' personal data, or use the Service with automated tools without our written permission.
Safety, Moderation, and Reporting
Zero tolerance for objectionable content. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. This includes harassment, hate speech, sexually explicit material, spam, and any content that is unlawful or otherwise harmful to the community. You can flag any content or user from within the app, and you can block any user at any time; blocking immediately removes that user and their messages from your view and notifies us. We review every report and act within 24 hours, removing offending content and ejecting users who violate this policy.
You can report any user or content from within the Service, and you can block any user at any time. We review reports and may warn, suspend, or terminate accounts as a result.
We may use automated tools alongside manual review to detect spam and abusive behavior. We cooperate with law enforcement where we are legally required to do so.
Private messages are private: we do not read your conversations in the ordinary course of operating the Service. Message content may be accessed in response to a user report, to investigate suspected abuse, or where the law requires it.
AI Features
Some features of the Service — for example, AI-generated translations and explanations — process the text you submit through third-party AI providers (currently xAI's Grok API). Content you submit to these features is shared with the provider to generate the response. Details are described in our Privacy Policy.
Advertising
The Service is free to use and is supported by advertising. Advertisements are provided by third parties and their display is subject to your consent choices where applicable. We do not endorse advertised products or services.
Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect and how we use it.
Links To Other Web Sites
Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by Linguar.
Linguar has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. You further acknowledge and agree that Linguar shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods, or services available on or through any such websites or services.
We strongly advise you to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any third-party websites or services that you visit.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to our Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. If you wish to terminate your account, you may delete it in your settings or simply discontinue using the Service.
All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. Linguar connects independent users with each other; we do not vet users and are not a party to interactions between users, whether on or off the Service. Use common sense and caution when communicating with, and especially when meeting, people you have met through the Service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Linguar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or from the conduct of other users.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us regarding our Service, and supersede and replace any prior agreements we might have between us regarding the Service.
Changes
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Service.
